Prerequisites and Considerations
The following items are prerequisites for activating and utilizing Conference Room Connector (CRC) and additional CRC features including supported devices and software versions, eligible Zoom account types, firewall requirements, and considerations for purchasing CRC subscriptions.
CRC Subscriptions
Important
CRC subscriptions can only be added to Zoom Pro, Business, Education, or Enterprise accounts.
Confirm that your Zoom account type is eligible to use CRC. If your organization’s Zoom account is Pro, Business, Education, or Enterprise you can subscribe to H.323/SIP Room Connector through the Billing section of the Zoom web portal, by contacting Zoom sales, or by contacting your Zoom representative to inquire about CRC subscriptions.
CRC subscriptions are based on active endpoints, so licenses can be shared or pooled across devices, but a license must be available before an endpoint can join a call
A single CRC subscription allows for one active connection between a H.323/SIP video conferencing device and a Zoom Meeting or Webinar. If your organization has multiple devices, it is recommended that you determine the maximum number of simultaneous calls that could occur between H.323/SIP devices and the CRC gateway. This figure represents the number of CRC subscriptions your organization may need to purchase.
Example: Single Organization In One Region
An organization located in the Americas with 100 H.323/SIP video conferencing devices has the potential for all 100 devices to actively be in Zoom Meetings during their hours of operation. Purchasing one CRC subscription for each device would avoid the potential that an endpoint is prevented from joining a meeting due to the subscriptions being exhausted.
Example: Global Organization Across Multiple Regions
An organization with 30 H.323/SIP video conferencing devices in EMEA, 30 in APAC, and 40 in the Americas may not need to purchase 100 total CRC subscriptions to cover simultaneous connectivity; there is less potential for all devices to be in operation due to the variance in global time zones. It may be appropriate to purchase fewer CRC subscriptions in this scenario.
A single Conference Room Connector subscription allows for an unlimited number of managed devices
While multiple Conference Room Connector (CRC) licenses are needed to support simultaneous connections between your H.323/SIP video conferencing devices and Zoom Meetings, purchasing just a single CRC subscription allows an organization to deploy the Enhanced API Connector and provision an unlimited number of H.323/SIP devices as managed devices in the Zoom web portal, allowing access to additional CRC features such as calendar integration and SIP proxy registration.
A licensed user within your Zoom account must host the Zoom Meeting or Webinar to use your account’s Conference Room Connector licenses
Conference Room Connector (CRC) licenses are part of a pool within your Zoom account and are not associated with a specific video conferencing device or user. Meetings must be scheduled or hosted by a member of your Zoom account to utilize your CRC licenses when H.323/SIP video conferencing devices join a Zoom Meeting.
Supported Devices
Before purchasing CRC subscriptions, refer to our Conference Room Connector supported devices article to confirm that your H.323/SIP video conferencing devices can join Zoom Meetings and (optionally) are capable of being managed by the Zoom platform.
Confirm the following two items in the article.
In the support article, look for the checkmark under the Supported Joining Meetings column to see if your H.323/SIP video conferencing devices are supported for dialing into the CRC gateway and joining Zoom Meetings and Webinars.
Additional CRC features like calendar integration and SIP proxy registration require you to provision your H.323/SIP devices as Managed Devices in the Zoom web portal. Refer to the Supported as a Zoom Managed Device column in the support article to verify that your H.323/SIP devices can be managed and if a minimum software version is required for your device.
Firewall Requirements
H.323/SIP video conferencing devices require the Internet access described in our Network Firewall Settings for CRC support article to access Zoom Meetings and Webinars. The Zoom Enhanced API Connector, if deployed in your environment, also requires Internet access to function. The tables within the support article describe the protocols, destination ports, and destination IP addresses used to communicate with Zoom cloud services. Your firewall should be configured to allow established, related return connections from Zoom’s cloud to your H.323/SIP video conferencing devices and the Enhanced API Connector (if deployed).
Additional Features
Conference Room Connector offers a suite of features from its core functionality (connecting H.323/SIP video conferencing devices to Zoom Meetings through the CRC gateway) to device management, calendar integration, and SIP proxy registration. Organizations may use CRC solely for Zoom Meeting connectivity, or they may employ any of the additional CRC features.
Please refer to the common integration scenarios section of this document for steps required to transition to Conference Room Connector based on common types of H.323/SIP infrastructure and operations.
