Monitoring Emergency Services Readiness with Zoom Phone

To recap the steps taken until this point:

  1. First, we set up a static solution. We defined default addresses for company assets like common area phones, and we encouraged our user base to define their personal emergency addresses.

  2. Next, we enabled nomadic services for a ‘feature test’ team. We collected our network data and defined company locations. And, where relevant, our test team has “walked the property” to test and validate those locations with Bootstrap Mode enabled.

  3. Next we enabled our broader population of user Zoom Workplace apps to detect and report their locations. As necessary, we’ve encouraged users to enable location sharing for their Zoom Workplace applications, or forced the setting on the admin side. If relevant, we’ve also instructed (or assisted) the Mac users to download the location helper application for network switch detection.

  4. Wherever relevant, we’ve enabled users to create personal locations and encouraged them to define a personal emergency address and location.

Keeping track of how your organization handles emergency call readiness is critical—especially when users are working across multiple locations. The Zoom Phone Emergency Services Dashboard helps admins assess how well users and devices are prepared to support emergency location tracking. Whether reviewing who’s opted into location sharing, or managing nomadic services and reviewing address accuracy, this dashboard gives you the tools to maintain safety compliance across your Zoom Phone deployment.

A practical example: a global HR team overseeing hybrid staff may need to check that users have confirmed their personal emergency address and opted into location tracking. The dashboard provides a quick way to verify this data and follow up where needed.

Dashboard data may not reflect the most recent updates instantly. Expect a short delay—especially after changing settings or deploying updates.

Dashboard Access Requirements

Before accessing the dashboards, make sure you meet the following prerequisites:

  • You’re an admin or account owner with Zoom Phone licenses.

  • Nomadic emergency services are configured and enabled.

  • Emergency addresses are already set up.

  • Your users are on supported Zoom Workplace desktop application operating systems (Windows, macOS, or Linux).

Once confirmed, head to the Zoom web portal and navigate to: Dashboard > Phone > Emergency ServicesIf your setup includes multiple sites, use the site selector at the top to filter data accordingly.

What You Can Track

The dashboard includes several insight-rich sections, each designed to help you stay on top of key emergency readiness metrics.

  • User Location Status Shows the proportion of users currently located at recognized addresses. You can drill into lists of users by company, personal, or unknown locations to investigate further.

  • IP Phone Location Visibility Similar to users, this section reports which desk phones are actively mapped to known locations.

  • Nomadic Emergency Service Status Displays how many users have nomadic services turned on. If you’re managing remote-first teams, this metric is particularly important.

  • Emergency Address Setup Helps you track which users have configured a personal emergency address. This matters when site or account-level defaults may not apply—such as in home offices or coworking spaces.

  • Location Sharing Permissions Reports how many users accepted Zoom's prompt to share their location for emergency calls. If a large portion declined, you’ll likely want to nudge them again.

  • Detectable Personal Locations Reveals how many users have a confirmed location tied to identifiable network data—an essential component for accurate emergency routing.

Managing Permissions and Address Data

If you discover that some users have declined location sharing, you can reinitiate the permission request directly from the dashboard. Within the Location Sharing section, find users who haven’t opted in and choose to re-trigger the prompt for all users or for a selected group or groups. This sends them a notification via the Zoom Workplace desktop application with steps to enable location sharing.

If a user or device is shown in an “unknown location,” you can associate them with an emergency address. Select the Real-Time Location section, find the user, and either assign an existing address or create a new one that matches their current location. Once submitted, that device or user becomes trackable for emergency purposes.

Exporting and Reviewing Data

For organizations that need reporting flexibility, the dashboard offers CSV export functionality. You can export data from individual sections—such as a snapshot of user locations—or download a historical view that shows where users have registered emergency addresses over time.

Whether for internal audits, compliance checks, or operational reports, this export option allows your emergency readiness data to remain portable and reviewable.
