#### Zoom Recording Hybrid: On-Premises Recording Storage With Either Cloud-Based or On-Premises Processing

The Zoom Recording Hybrid module is a supplemental module that complements Zoom Meetings Hybrid by giving customers greater control over where Zoom Meetings recordings are generated and processed before being stored on-premises. This added flexibility supports businesses with specific privacy, security, or compliance requirements for managing recorded conversations. Like the Meetings Hybrid module, the Recording Hybrid module offers a range of recording options tailored to **Hybrid** or **Private** Mode meetings, which are discussed in the following sections.

**Heads Up**

Be sure to be familiar with the differences between [Zoom Meetings Hybrid’s](/advanced-enterprise-services/zoom-node/zoom-node-explainer/zoom-meetings-hybrid.md) meeting modes (hybrid and private) before continuing.

#### **Hybrid Mode records and processes in the cloud, but stores the files on-premises**

When hosting a **hybrid** meeting with both the Meetings Hybrid and Recording Hybrid modules, the meeting recording is initially processed and temporarily stored in the Zoom Cloud. Once the meeting concludes and processing is finalized, the recording is automatically transferred to the host account’s designated NFS storage for local access and the cloud copy is discarded. When users access the recording, they will receive a link that directs them to the account’s NFS environment where the file is stored.

This design offers the flexibility to offload recording processing to the cloud, conserving local machine resources, while maintaining control over local, and potentially region-specific, storage within the customer’s own data center.

The following image provides an example of the Hybrid Mode recording configuration and process.

#### **Private Mode records, processes, and stores recordings locally, but is computationally demanding**

When hosting a **private** meeting with both the Meetings Hybrid and Recording Hybrid modules, all meeting activities, including hosting, recording, and processing, occur entirely on-premises through the integrated module.

Once the private meeting is concluded, the recording is processed (i.e., transcoded) on the local machine and then transferred to the applicable NFS storage system, where it is accessible to users via a direct link.

This design allows customers to host *and record* on-premises meetings without cloud-media data traversal, granting customers additional layers of security and privacy for sensitive meetings, while still maintaining the flexibility for hybrid recordings when necessary. However, customers should be advised that the transcoding process is computationally demanding, can be difficult to do at a large scale, and may cause delays to recording availability after a meeting ends. Please consult the Zoom Recording Hybrid [Recommended Hardware support article ](https://support.zoom.com/hc/en/article?id=zm_kb\&sysparm_article=KB0060770)for details on the computing requirements for recording and transcoding.

The following image provides an example of the Private Mode recording configuration and process.

**Note**

The Recording Hybrid module maintains a signaling connection with the Zoom Cloud for event registration and logging purposes (i.e., making a record the meeting was recorded by the device); however, no meeting media is transmitted to the cloud as a part of this process.
